The Tour

Day 1: Hoi An – My Son

8:00 Starting off in picturesque Hoi An, riding up to the  Thu Bon river, we load all bicycles on a ferry boat to Cam Kim, passing many small green islands along the way…

Cam Kim is a traditional centre for carpentry where we will discover how wooden river boats are made and then cycle along the quiet paths to My Son. Your guide will take you into the sanctuaries, giving you the opportunity to walk and discover the old temples with its unique architecture, and learn more about the history and culture of Champa from the 2nd to 15th centuries.

We then take a private bus back to Hoi An with free time for beach relax or explore more Hoi An’s ancient town. We will then spend the night in Hoi An (hotel name announced on booking due to seasonal availability). All hotels have WiFi internet access. Meals included are listed below.

Day 2: Hoi an  – Tam Ky -Quang Ngai

We start the day with a boat trip to cross the Thu Bon River. Continue cycling along a lovely quiet road with the coast on one side, farms and mountains on the other.

Tam Ky is a town that gets few visitors, but is great for getting away from the tourist regions of Vietnam.

Lunch in Tam Ky, usually on the beach (weather allowing)

In the afternoon we cycle the quiet backroads, passing paddy fields and fishing villages to My Lai and visiting the monument & gardens of the My Lai massacre. We will then continue to Quang Ngai and on to Sa Huynh beach.

Day 3: Quang Ngai – Quy Nhon

Start 6:30am – 7am: Cycle the peaceful coastal roads, passing beautiful empty beaches where we will stop on request for some photos. We are never far away from seeing some rice fields though as we ride on. Other sites of note are the large lagoons used for salt extraction from the sea water.  Breaking an hour for a seafood lunch at a small local restaurant before continuing on to Quy Nhon.

Day 4: Quy Nhon  – Tuy Hoa

Riding from Quy Nhon to Tuy Hoa – Get ready for the biggest cycling day of the trip. Follow the coastline over undulating hills all the way to south. The biggest uphill of the day is at 4km, but it comes early in the day. The cycle route is close to the beach. Also having time to visit the famous volcanic Da Nhay rock beach which extends from the small large rocks.  We can also swim here. Lunch is seafood at a local restaurant.

Day 5: Tuy Hoa – Nha Trang

Cycle the coastal route to Nha Trang. We pass more beautiful beaches with friendly villagers especially the children who love foreign visitors. Lunch is at Bai Xep where we can enjoy some delicious seafood.

Enjoy a last final stretch with a beautiful afternoon of undulating mountainous  coastline, with some lovely hill climbs – the longest being a 3.5km ride to the coastal town of Nha Trang, famous for its beaches and clear waters.
